Finally after starting at my new job I have found some time to work on displayconfig-gtk again. So expect a new release soon.
If you would like to give it a try before, you can download the package for Gutsy from my website.
It will include the following changes:
I am always interested in getting any kind of feedback. Please feel free to write me an email, to fill a bug in Launchpad or to leave a comment here.

Hi Sebastian, glad to see displayconfig-gtk is progressing well.
Do you think we could have clone mode (maybe it's called mirror mode) working in -ati and -intel for 7.10 release? I and others need it for plugging a projector and showing things to people in classrooms.
Of course would be great too having dual head work in -ati and -intel.

DisplayConfigGtk is limited to two devices, since we could not expect to have widespread and working xrandr1.2 drivers for Gutsy. Furhermore doing dual right is also no simple task (backend and user interface).
The fail safe dialog was turned into a warning dialog in the final version 0.3. 0.3.2 will be released soon.
displayconfig-gtk (0.3.2) gutsy; urgency=low
* Make use of guidance improvements to disable dualhead for specific
gfx card drivers (sadly ati no longer supports mergedfb and xinerama)
* Bug fix in the graphics card chooser and the fail safe session handling
* Allow to load the disabled modules again in fail safe mode

Hi there!
My problem with displayconfig is the following:
- it lists my two nvidia cards: good
- it lists my four possible displays: good
- it doesn't let me set up more than two: very bad.
I would love to be able to setup any number of screens through xinerama/xrandr/whatever with displayconfig.
