Initial Release of SHBackup

Free/Libre and Open Source Software SHBackup

I am glad to announce the initial release of SHBackup. It is a python application that allows you to easily backup so called root or dedicated servers. It supports logical volumes, mysql and file/directory backup to a ftp site or rsync host. Currently it only can perform full backups but comes with a simple rotation mechanism and encryption with GnuPG.

Personally I use it for some remotely hosted servers which come with a lot of ftp backup space. Furthermore the rsync feature keeps my xen based fallback systems in sync.

Packages and source code can be downloaded from the Launchpad project page.

Update (2018-08-06): Don’t use this ancient software anymore. Borgbackup is currently the backup tool of choice.
